Title
Mass Photometry: Weighing Molecules with Light
Abstract
Mass measurement is a universal, and thus ubiquitous method for studying molecules, their function and regulation across the life and physical sciences. I will introduce mass photometry, light scattering-based mass measurement at the single molecule level, as a third way of measuring mass. This discovery impacts optical physics in the context of the smallest objects detectable with light, and biology through our ability to study biomolecular mechanisms affecting basic research, drug discovery and ultimately diagnostics.
