Title

Carbon Solid State Physics and Light Scattering

Abstract

This talk starts with an introduction to the electronic and vibrational properties of carbon related materials, including three-dimensional diamond, two-dimensional graphene and one-dimensional carbon nanotubes. The similarities and differences among these materials will be explored, addressing a broad range of different aspects – quantum correlation, quantum confinement, superlattices, environmental coupling... The main tool is light scattering, but microscopy and other spectroscopy techniques are also discussed.
