Title

Timing the Escape of a Caged Electron

Abstract

Pioneering advances in ultrafast pump-probe spectroscopy have revolutionised our understanding of electron dynamics, as recognised by the award of the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics. A complementary method of achieving (sub-) femtosecond resolution is to exploit the energy-domain tunability of synchrotron radiation via the core hole clock technique. This provides fascinating insights into the evolution of electron
delocalization inside a molecule.
