Quantum Gravity: Puzzles and Perspectives

Abstract

The unification of quantum theory and Einstein's general relativity into a consistent theory of quantum gravity is a central challenge of modern theoretical physics. In this talk I would like to explain the basic questions at an introductory level and describe some current ideas and ansätze for their solution.
