Title

Scattering Amplitudes and Hidden Symmetries

Abstract

An introduction to gauge field theory - the underlying theoretical framework of elementary particle physics - and its symmetries will be given. Then we shall discuss supersymmetry and a holographic description of gauge fields in terms of a higher dimensional string theory known as the AdS/CFT correspondence. Finally, we focus on recent results for scattering amplitudes in supersymmetric gauge theory, their string dual description and surprising hidden symmetries pointing towards an integrable structure.
